Theatre Work and Community Projects

As well as being a top class magician, I am also an actor, writer and co-director/founder of a community interest theatre company.

I have been funded by Arts Council England for several projects, and I create theatre to further the participation in the arts. My ultimate goal is to expose people to the arts, who wouldn't usually get that opportunity.

Reception Youth Theatre

The Seagull runs youth theatre classes for year 1 and above children. As part of my role as Youth Opportunities Coordinator I noticed a gap for these classes for reception aged children.

Our reception youth theatre class is aimed at 4 and 5 year olds as an introduction to the youth theatre. It will teach them the basics of performing. Sessions will be help term time only, every Wednesday evening from 4pm.

Houdini A Magician Among The Spirits

The greatest magician Harry Houdini lives again in this stunning new play.

Do Spirits Return? Harry Houdini believes they don't and sets out to expose the popular tricks of the Victorian psychics. Houdini: A Magician Among The Spirits follows the master magician as he lays bare the Séance room, tackles charlatans, navigates a troubled friendship with Arthur Conan Doyle, and performs some of his most famous tricks and escapes.

In a modern age of lies and spin, does Houdini's skepticism and logic have a resonance? Or does a lack of belief lead to a barren life? Where is the line between magic and misdeed? Houdini: A Magician Among The Spirits is haunting and inescapable fun.

This play is funded by Arts Council England

Little Performers

I am one of the Youth Opportunities Coordinators for The Seagull, a community theatre based in Pakefield.

My role is to engage children in the arts. I hold sessions and workshops called "Little Performers"
The sessions are free so all children are able to access them without any barriers. They will be held on the first Wednesday of every month at 10:30am and 1:30pm at The Seagull Theatre and the second Wednesday of every month at 10:30am and 1:30pm at The Grit in Lowestoft.

Each session will last for 45 minutes. Your children will play theatre games that are designed to introduce them to the world of theatre. They will explore different stories and themes in each session, and create their own characters within that world.

This will not only introduce them to acting, but it will also help build confidence and gain social skills.

Ancestors

Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Land and Shore project worked with people at Dunwich, Lowestoft and Tattingstone to research and delve into the collections of Suffolk Archives and discover the stories of lost communities.

The research led to discoveries about the fascinating and sometimes tragic lives of their relatives and ancestors; from Lowestoft’s workhouse and the town’s long-lost Beach Village and, further afield, to Dunwich and even Canada!

Working with creative arts organisation the Voice cLoud and using the resources and archives of Lowestoft and Suffolk record office, these stories were brought to life through dramatisations and sung by professional actors and musicians, and some of the participants themselves.

Fox Tales

I was a founding member of Laughing Fox Productions. They are a puppet theatre company that tells classic Brothers Grimm sorties in new and interesting ways.

They are a registered Community Interest Company (CIC). They have been awarded funding from Suffolk Community Foundation, The Seagull Theatre, and Arts Council England
